Recently, leaders and an expert team from the Shihezi City Emergency Management Bureau of the Eighth Division went to the Tianye Group’s annual output of 600,000 tons of ethylene glycol project, a key project of the Corps, to carry out safety completion acceptance work. After strict inspection and comprehensive assessment, the completion acceptance of the safety facilities of Tianye Group’s 600,000-ton ethylene glycol project successfully passed.
Tianye Group’s 600,000-ton ethylene glycol plant started construction in August 2017 and will be completed and trial production will begin in August 2020 , is the largest ethylene glycol plant in China. At present, full capacity production has been achieved.
Xinjiang Tianye Phase I adopts Tsinghua furnace coal-water slurry gasification, conversion, methanol washing, and hydrogen/carbon monoxide separation. Project Overview
Xinjiang Tianye Group’s annual output of 600,000 tons of ethylene glycol project is located in Shihutan New Materials Industrial Park The first project, with a total investment of 7.997 billion yuan, started construction in August 2017. Relying on Xinjiang’s abundant coal resources and advanced coal chemical technology, Tianye Group uses coal-water slurry gasification, syngas purification, purification, separation technology and dimethyl oxalate synthesis and hydrogenation technology to produce polyester-grade ethylene glycol. The project’s equipment scale and process level are in the leading position in the industry. It has been comprehensively optimized in terms of safety, environmental protection, intelligent control, etc., and its production capacity and single production line scale are among the leading positions in the country.
Tianye’s 600,000-ton-annual coal-to-ethylene glycol project has made many breakthroughs since it started construction in August 2017.
The project construction speed is the fastest in the industry, more than half a year ahead of similar domestic enterprises;
With Tsinghua University, A number of core technologies jointly developed by scientific research institutes such as the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have broken through many industry problems and can provide valuable experience for the construction of large-scale ethylene glycol production lines in China;
The ethylene glycol produced has good UV transmittance and a purity of 99.96%. All indicators are higher than the national standards and can meet the highest requirements for ethylene glycol indicators in China’s polyester industry;
The product has significantly reduced the production cost of domestic coal-based ethylene glycol, driven domestic ethylene glycol products to compete with foreign products, and also improved the ability of relevant Chinese enterprises to withstand market risks;
Coal-to-ethylene glycol production technology can equally replace petroleum production technology.
The biggest advantage of this project is that it couples the coal chemical industry with Tianye Group’s existing chlor-alkali chemical industry. In the later stage, Tianye Group will also integrate coal-to-ethylene glycol technology with the petrochemical industry to promote industrial intensification and agglomeration, and promote the continuous extension of the circular industry chain. After the ethylene glycol project with an annual output of 600,000 tons is fully completed, it will provide new momentum for Tianye Group’s economic growth. At the same time, it can also support the follow-up projects of Shihutan New Materials Industrial Park – the construction of polyester and special fiber bases, high-end olefins and Providing raw materials for the construction of engineering plastics bases. The Corps plans to build the Shihutan New Materials Industrial Park into the Corps’ first industrial park with an output value of 100 billion yuan. </p
